Mr. Willis "Jake" Taylor, Jr. was born May 10, 1946 to Gladys Anlois Taylor. He was called home Saturday, June 17, 2023.
Willis was a loving father and a hard worker. He graduated from Riverside High School and served in the United States Army. After the Vietnam War in 1968, he became a certified welder. He was known as one of the best welders around. After 40 years of welding, he retired in Baltimore, Maryland. His motto was “everything can be welded back together”. In his pastime Willis was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Willis moved back to Anderson, South Carolina in 2020 to be closer to his family, which he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jacob Taylor, his mother, Gladys Taylor, his granddaughter, Ebony Baker and one brother, John (Janice) Taylor.
Willis leaves to cherish fond memories his sons, Willis (Regina) Taylor, Stephone (Dr. Melissa) Taylor; daughters, Pamela (Adran) Rogers, Jacquelyn Taylor and Adraine (Frederick) Baker; an honorary son, Jaywan (Tina) Scott; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2023 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. The interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
