Willie A. Tucker Jr., affectionately known as “Mann,” was born on February 14, 1947, in Anderson, South Carolina, and passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025. Wille was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lillie Mae Tucker; father, Willie Tucker Sr.; stepmother, Jeanette Tucker; and brothers, Marvin Tucker, Douglas “Bebe” Tucker, and John David Tucker.
Willie grew up as a faithful member of Welfare Baptist Church. He graduated from Westside High School and received several certifications from Tri-County Technical College.
He dedicated over 30 years of service to Anderson Memorial Hospital/AnMed, where he retired in 2007. Willie was also a Vietnam veteran who served his country with distinction and honor, earning the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. His service and dedication to both his nation and his community will never be forgotten.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mrs. Rogereé Tucker; his daughter, Alexandria Garrett (Paul) of Anderson, South Carolina and his son, Malcolm Lamar “Pete” Tucker (Erika) of Conyers, Georgia. Fondly remembered as “Papa,” he was a proud grandfather to Sheravia Smalls of McDonough, Georgia; Xavier Garrett and Victor Garrett, both of Anderson, South Carolina; and Sydney Tucker and Caleb Tucker, both of Conyers, Georgia. He was also a devoted great-grandfather to Hayden Alexander Garrett, Kylan Adriel Garrett, Valiyah Alexandria Garrett, and Zaila Ka’Loni Garrett.
In addition, Willie is survived by his brother, Melvin Tucker (Ida); his sister-in-law, Gloria Paul; his brother-in-law, Alton Johnson; his loving and protective nieces, Eleanor Thomas and Kamri Thomas; his devoted nephews Reginald Thomas and Mashon Thomas; and a host of other cherished relatives and friends who will forever remember his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.
Willie’s life was one filled with love, laughter, and family. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The interment with military honors will be held on Monday, October 27 at M.J. "Dolly" Veterans Cemetery. Public viewing will be held Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
