William McIntosh III Obituary

William Luther "Preacher" McIntosh, III, born December 5, 1953, in Anderson, South Carolina to the late William Luther McIntosh, Jr. and Lucille Thomas McIntosh, transitioned to his eternal home on Friday, June 3, 2022.

William was a proud product of Anderson School District 5, where he attended South Fant Street Elementary School, Southwood Middle School, and graduated from Westside High School. He was involved in extracurricular activities such as football, baseball, basketball, and various organizations. He graduated from Anderson University and New York University. William was also a member of Generostee Baptist Church and was baptized at the age of 12. He was formerly employed at Wamsutta, Dick Brooks, and Piedmont Nissan in Anderson, S.C., and took great pride in coaching athletic teams in the Anderson community.  

William was well known for his energetic personality and his love for people. His vibrant demeanor and unforgettable presence assisted in earning his nickname, "Preacher." He never met a stranger. He enjoyed interacting with others and sharing thoughts on ways to advance in life. He loved to share his experiences with others. He had big dreams and desires for his family to be the best in every endeavor they set out to accomplish. He was very proud of the accomplishments and achievements of his family.

William leaves to cherish fond memories, three (3) sons: William Al’Foxx (Jannette) McIntosh of OK, Kareem RaShad McIntosh, and Brandon LaPriest McIntosh of Anderson; two (2) daughters: Sheena LaMia (Demetrick) Tensley of Clemson and Kiva Kio’isha Na’shay (Jarrett) McIntosh of Anderson; five (5) sisters: Rose (Clark) Lee, Willie Mae Mattress, Joyce McIntosh, Norma Hammond, and Alberta Johnson, all of Anderson; two (2) brothers: Ronald McIntosh of Anderson and Kenneth (Janine) McIntosh of Charlotte, NC; twelve (12) grandchildren: Delisha & Xavier of Greenville; Raekwon, Malachi, & Kayden of Anderson; Caleb, Hannah, & Chloe of Clemson; and Azzayah, Deborah, Jasmine, & Erika of OK;  four (4) great-grandchildren; one (1) aunt Maggie Clinkscales; and one (1) uncle Roy Lee Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.   

William was preceded in death by his parents, William Luther McIntosh, Jr. and Lucille Thomas McIntosh; grandparents, Bunion and Alberta Sullivan Thomas, William Luther, Sr. and Dessie Parks McIntosh, two (2) brothers-in-law, Tyrone Hammond and Deacon Homer Mattress, Jr.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at Generostee Baptist Church Cemetery.  Public viewing will be held on Monday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  

The family is at the home, 608 S. Fant Street Anderson, SC.
