William Jeffrey Dean, affectionately known for his kind heart, infectious smile, and unforgettable laugh, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at AnMed Health Medical Center. He was born on March 6, 1969, in Anderson, South Carolina, to the late Marcus Dean and Essie Mae Byrd Dean.
William was a proud graduate of Palmetto High School, Class of 1987. Following graduation, he built a successful career as an electrician and entrepreneur. As the owner and operator of Star Electric for more than 30 years where he earned a reputation for his strong work ethic and professionalism.
Known by many as a gentle giant, William never met a stranger. His warm personality, generous spirit, and genuine love for people made everyone around him feel welcomed. He had a remarkable ability to make others laugh, and his contagious smile could brighten even the darkest day. Whether sharing a story, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying time with family and friends, William's presence brought comfort and joy to those who knew him.
A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, William rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. His passion for football was matched only by the love he had for his family and the friendships he cherished throughout his life.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of twenty-nine years, Mary Dawson Dean; his loving son, William Andrew Dean of Belton, South Carolina; step-daughter, Demeshe Dawson; two sisters, Ida Ann Smith of Belton, South Carolina, and Marilyn Dean of Anderson, South Carolina; one brother, Jerry Edwards of McCormick, South Carolina; nine grandchildren; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his kindness and love.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin Byrd, Jimmy Ray Edwards, Marvin Edwards, Floyd Dean, and Jackie Dean; and his sisters, Margaret Hunt and Barbara Dean.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we rejoice in knowing that William's legacy of love, laughter, compassion, and unwavering kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. His memory will forever be a source of comfort, inspiration, and love.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Williamston, SC. Public viewing will be Monday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
