Wade Mance, Sr., peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at AnMed Health Center in Anderson, South Carolina. He was 83 years old.
Wade was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina, where he was lovingly brought up by his grandparents. His parents were George Wardlaw, Sr. and Josephine Mance.
He married his first love, Rosella, and together they moved from Anderson, South Carolina, to New York to begin their life together. There, Wade worked as a welder for MARIE Welding Company. After many years of dedicated work, he retired and returned home to Anderson, where he continued to serve his community through his work at the Anderson Parks and Recreation Center. He fully retired at the age of 80.
Wade was a hard worker who took great pride in everything he did. He loved keeping his yard perfectly cut and neat, and he enjoyed building all kinds of things and clever little gadgets. One of his favorite pastime was sitting outside in front of his house, “neighbor watching,” while sipping his favorite cold beverage. He found peace in the simple moments—watching the birds feed, especially the hummingbirds, from his favorite chair.
He leaves behind five children, Wanda Mance Andrews, Wade Mance, Jr., Reginald Mance, Venita Mance, and Ada Benson, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Wade touched many lives—family, friends, and all those who were blessed to cross his path.
He will always be remembered for his kindness, humor, strong work ethic, and the love he shared with everyone he met.
Family and friends will gather at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate the life of Mr. Mance on Saturday, November 1, 2025 in the Ollie Robinson Memorial Chapel of the Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. Public viewing will continue until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
