Venson Leon Edwards, Sr.

Mr. Venson Leon Edwards departed this life on Thursday, January 5th 2023 at Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.  He was the son of Inez Lewis and the late Ronnie McLaughlin. He attended Greenwood High School.  At an early age he worked for Edwards Masonry.  He later was employed by Goodman conveyor for many years until the company closed.  After Goodman closed, he started working for Hydro in Gainesville Georgia until his health failed.

Leon was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and he also loved the LA Dodgers baseball team.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Talisha Sade Edwards; his son, Venson Leon Edwards Jr.; paternal grandparents, Willie and Floral McLaughlin; maternal grandparents, Rayford and Queenie Mae Edwards; and two very special uncles, Bruce McLaughlin and Paul Edwards.

He leaves the cherish his fond memories to his mother, Inez (Nate) Lewis; his wife Renae Edwards; a special friend and caregiver, Andrea Lynn Jones; children, Reontis (Laken) Jackson, Constance Edwards, Hakeem Roundtree, Deondra Edwards, and Alexus Chamberlain; three special children, Briannea Rainey, Christian Jones, and Christopher Jones; seventeen grandchildren; brothers, Reggie Stevenson of Newark,  New Jersey, Nathan Lewis of Anderson, South Carolina, and Marlin Edwards of Irmo, South Carolina; sisters, Jeanette (Al) Cason, Alisha (Keith) Robinson, Adrian Lewis all of Greenwood South Carolina and Janice (Mike) Garrison of Greenville, South Carolina; aunts, Mildred McLaughlin of Greenwood, South Carolina, Patricia Clay, and Gertrude Holloway of Columbia South Carolina; uncles Raeford Jr, Edwards, Moses Hackett, and Roy Edwards of Greenwood South Carolina; a special uncle/daddy, Freddie Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Greenwood, SC.  The interment will follow at Evening Star Cemetery.
