Theodore Thomas

Theodore Thomas was born on May 25, 1949 in Anderson, SC.  He passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Theodore joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at a young age.  During his high school years at New Deal, Theodore played football.  He was named "Troop" (#32) by his teammates.  Theodore was part of the 1966-1967 football team that won the District Championship and was runner-up in the Upper State Championship.  After graduating high school in 1967, Theodore joined the United States Army in 1968.  He was honorably discharged after 2 years of service.  He later attended Anderson College to study Criminal Justice.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Mashon Thomas  and Craig Mauldin; one granddaughter, Akyla Foster; two sisters, Gloria Paul and Rogeree Tucker; one brother, Alton Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Mae Clinkscales Thomas Johnson and Glenn Lee Thomas, Sr.; one son, Antonie Thomas; and three brothers, Glenn Thomas, Alvin Johnson, and Julius Johnson.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  Public viewing Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.  The interment with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
