Mr. Stevie Cornell Jones departed this life on September 23, 2024. He was born June 25, 1952 to Allen Jones Jr. and Louise Allen Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adopted mother, Sanola T. Robinson and three brothers, John Robert Hunter, Dennis Jones, and Dexter Jones.
Stevie graduated from Belton-Honea Path High School. After high school he studied health science, real estate one, and human resource at Piedmont Technical College and at Massey Business College.
Stevie worked as a radio personality on 1090 AM in Greenwood, SC and 95.3 FM in Anderson, SC. He was known as “Sir Jones” and “Monk Jones”. He also worked as a Researcher/Investigator at Tibsley/Tinsley Law Firm and with underprivileged children at Project Help A Child. Stevie was well known for his soulful voice, which led him to be the master of ceremonies at many events.
He will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Lugenia Newell Jones; sons, Adrian Hackett (Anissa), Steavie Anderson both of Atlanta, GA, and Al-Shura Frazier of Columbia, SC; a daughter, Cecily Moss of Greenwood, SC; two sisters, Victoria Hopkins (William) of Homestead, FL and Yvette Berry of Anderson, SC; one step-son, Chesiree Lomax of Anderson, SC; granddaughter-in-love, Ashley Lomax; son-in-love, Timothy Stevens; brother-in-love, Larry Edwards; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.; and a host of relatives and dear friends.
The service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Springfield Baptist Church (Leveland Community). Public viewing Saturday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
