Singleton Hunter was born on March 4, 1943, in Abbeville, SC to the late Henry and Jadie Hunter. He was a college graduate of Temple University in Pennsylvania, PA. He worked as a brick mason most of his life. Singleton was a lifelong member of Brownoh A.M.E Church. He was a laidback go with the flow type of person, and he always said, “I’m alright” even if he wasn’t.
Singleton “Sing” Hunter passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Piedmont on March 29, 2025. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his brother Solomon Hunter, of the home, his son Terry Postell, of Calhoun Falls, SC, his only grandchild Ro’Shundray Postell, of Greenwood, SC, two great granddaughters Zariyah Postell and Zimora Peterson, and a nephew Christopher Day, of California. Singleton was preceded in death by his parents, his son Rodney Postell, his brother Louie Hunter, and his sisters, Beatrice Bradford, Amanda Hunter, and Evelyn Sanders.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Brownoh A.M.E. Church in Calhoun Falls, SC. The interment will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home (Calhoun Falls).
The family is at the home of his son, Terry Postell, 226 Seneca Circle, Calhoun Falls, SC 29628.
