Shirley A. (Webb) Wilkes, 73, entered her life January 17,1952 to the late Bernice (Walker) Webb and Joe Webb. She was the eldest of nine very close siblings.
Shirley became a mother to a set of twins (Sharon & Clayton Webb) at an early age; to which she loved with the capacity that was in her. She later married their father James G. Holland who preceded her in death.
After her second marriage she later began to raise Tiffany "Missy" Jones along with the twins. She was only supposed to babysit, but often “forgot” to return her. Missy remained in the home for a few years, but was never removed from her life. Between her three children, she was blessed with eight grandchildren and five great grands.
Shirley was an extraordinary baker early in life, often baking cakes and pies for countless occasions. She was a faithful member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, often as lead, until her health began to decline. She was a dedicated employee of JP Stevenson (later Westpoint Stevenson) for more than thirty (30) years, until the closing of the plant. Shirley moved on to Milliken Finishing Plant, until her health forced her to retire.
She then took on caring for her grandchildren; two of which she took into her home, until she no longer could. She still didn’t cease at trying to spoil them at no cost when she was able.
She will tremendously be missed by her family & friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her Great Granny & Popa Willie Dean (Jones) Walker and Montgomery Walker, her parents Bernice( Webb) Walker & Joe Webb, her brother Jerry(Spud) Webb, many favorite aunts and uncles, and a special niece Shannon (Williford)Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children Sharon & Clayton Webb of Townville,SC , Tiffany (Missy) Jones of Anderson, SC, her five very faithful sisters Beulah Webb of Pendleton SC, Joanne Williford Anderson SC, Barbara Johnson, Townville SC, Bernice A.Webb, and Cynthia Webb both of Anderson SC; two brothers Josephus Webb, and Timothy Webb, eight grandchildren and five great grands.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at New Prospect Baptist Church (Townville). The interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is at 130 Jasmine Lane, Pendleton, SC.
