Sharon Elaine (Banks) Maxwell

Mrs. Sharon Elaine Banks Maxwell was born April 20, 1961 in Bronx, New York to the late Willie Joe Banks and Mildred Banks.  She passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Sharon graduated from Evander High School in the Bronx and later attended Community College.  Sharon dedicated her life to serving others with compassion, strength, and a heart full of love.  She served for 15 years as a correctional officer at the Whitworth Men's Facility in Hartwell, GA.  Her calling to care for others extended beyond her career.  She was a devoted foster parent through SAFY for over a decade.  She worked for a number of years at the Hampton Group Home in Pickens, SC, New Foundation, and Senior Solutions both located in Anderson, SC.

Sharon had an unmistakable sense of style and self care.  She loved her perfume, her Dillard's lip gloss, and she was rarely seen without her lashes and hand sanitizer.  She had an eye for elegance and adored the calming hues of beige and white.  One of her favorite places to unwind and enjoy herself was Simon's.  She always found joy, laughter, and good company there.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Sammy Jr. Maxwell; her children, Eric Pitner and Alexus Maxwell; and her beloved grandchildren, Erikah Pitner, Sasha Ward, and Olivia Pitner.  She also leaves behind her siblings, Valerie Banks, Tonya Banks, and Willie Michael Banks; two adopted brothers and one adopted sister; one half brother and two half sisters; four aunties, Cathy Partlow, Brenda Blackwell, Mary Ann Rucker, and Jackie Johnson; two nieces, Nyasia Ebanks and Briamaian Edmond; and two nephews, Michael Banks and Malaci Potillo.  Sharon was dear to a lot of people.  She held a special place in her heart for her dear friends, Geneva and Claudia Minter and Miss Donna from Simon's.  Each of them brought light, laughter and lasting friendship into her life.

Sharon was grace in motion, elegant, nurturing, and full of light.  Her love was steadfast, her laughter unforgettable, and her presence irreplaceable.  Though she has left this world, her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing and loving her.

Rest on beautiful...your light will continue to shine.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Dewy Rose, GA.  Public viewing will be held Friday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
