Rodney Chrishawn Gambrell was born May 18, 1994 in Easley, SC to Stephanie Greenlee and Willie Gambrell. He returned to eternal rest on Saturday, September 2, 2023.
Rodney grew up in the Red Hill Community of Clemson, SC, where he loved spending countless hours with his great-grandmother, Evelyn “City” Greenlee and other family and friends. He attended D.W. Daniel High School and was a certified SLED Armed Security Officer for Next Level Protection, LLC. Rodney had a love of running, mixed martial arts, real estate investments, and dog breeding. He was the owner of Heavy Weight Champion Kennels and Grate Living Investments, in partnership with his brother, Erik Gambrell. Together they traveled many places to attend dog shows for presentations and to sell their full-blooded American Bullies.
Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents, Theodore Grate and William &Ethel Gambrell, Sr.; his great-grandparents, Evelyn “City’ Greenlee, Ulysees & Inez Harrison, Sr., and Thomas & Postell Grate. He was also preceded in death by his aunts, Leslie Greenlee and Annette Gambrell; one uncle Wayne Gambrell; and a baby cousin, Jordan Lane.
He leaves to cherish his memories son, Kingston Naseem Gambrell, a bonus daughter, Armani Martin, his loving mother, Stephanie Greenlee and father, Willie "Brut" Gambrell (Ramona Martin), his brother, Erik Gambrell, and his grandmother, Evelyn Greenlee Hunter. He also leaves a bonus brother, Andre Gambrell, a devoted big brother, Amin Scotland, and special cousins/sisters, Keisha Gambrell and Amanda Parker Gaines. Others left to cherish his memories are his uncles, Mark Greenlee, Chris Greenlee (Tasha), Winfield Gambrell (Nicole), Vondrick Martin (Andrea), Ken Greenlee, and his namesake, Rodney Lane; aunt, Karen Wiley; two special aunts, Cassandra Caldwell (Kevin) and Anita Gambrell; two nieces, Kasia and Kalivia Gambrell; godparents, Christopher and Teresa Dennis; a special friend and mother of his children, Zakara Ware; and a host of
other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at New Holly Light Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service. The interment will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery. Public viewing Saturday from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will be at their respective homes.
