Richard Edward Lee

Richard Edward Lee was born on December 1, 1947, in Anderson, South Carolina, to the late Roosevelt Lee, Sr. and Ruth Smith Lee. He departed this life on January 21, 2022, at AnMed  Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Roosevelt Lee, Jr., James "Jap" Lee, and Roy Lee and three grandchildren, Shaquan Saunders, Shawn Jones II, and Ser’Ray Walker.

Richard lived a happy fulfilled life and was surrounded by family who loved him dearly as he took his last breath. He attended Riverside High School in Pendleton, SC.  He worked hard all his life as a Master Brick Mason, which gave him the ability to travel the globe.

He leaves to cherish his memories, five children, Elder Reco Wideman of Anderson, SC, Dr. Shalisa Lee of Simpsonville, SC, Sharia Lee (James McKnight) of Greenville, SC, Shareta Lee of Fountain Inn, SC and Shekinah Lee-Galloway (Kevin Galloway) of Anderson, SC; three sisters, Helen Lee Jones Crawford (John Crawford) of Anderson, SC, Lillie D. Crooks (Amos Crooks) of Pendleton, SC, and Betty Faye Hollis (Jason Hollis) of Powder Springs, GA; one brother, Martimus N. Lee of Powdersville, SC; 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson.

At the request of the family, please wear a mask if you plan to attend the funeral service.
