Reverend Walter Lee Kelley Jr. born on June 30, 1953, to the late Walter Kelley Sr. and Georgia Mae Makins Kelley-Baldwin. He departed this life on the early morning of Sunday May 17, 2026. Reverend Walter was a lifelong resident of Anderson and a man of unwavering faith, generosity, and love. A proud veteran, Reverend Kelley also retired from UPS after an exemplary 30-year career marked by dedication and integrity. Never one to stay idle, he embraced retirement by launching his own lawn care business a venture that not only allowed him to work with his hands but also to touch the lives of countless neighbors and friends throughout the community.
A licensed minister and devoted member of Zion Church of God Holiness, Rev. Kelley served faithfully in numerous capacities throughout the years. His roles included President of Zion’s Youth Auxiliary, Assistant Sunday School Teacher, and active member of both the Concert and Senior Choirs, as well as the Young Men’s Christian League. His love for the Word was deep and abiding he found great joy in reading, studying, and discussing the Bible, always eager to share insight and encouragement. Reverend Kelley’s heart was anchored in his family. He especially cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Jones and Kennedy, whose presence brought him immense joy. His jovial spirit, quick wit, and booming laughter will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sweet and devoted wife of 52 years, Faye E. Kelley; his loving daughter, Caren Kelley-Hall (Steven); and his adored grandchildren, Jones and Kennedy Hall. He also leaves behind his brother, Reverend Wayne D. Kelley (Connie); four cherished sisters, Deloris Key, Doris Pruitt, RoseMary Bruce (Leslie), and Walletta Burris (Chad) a loving aunt Lucinda Chastain. He also held a special place in his heart for his Godchildren, Kellie N Lewis, Eric Chamblee, Pamela Ritter, Patrice Chamblee and Keesha Kay and cherished God-grandchildren (Lawrence and London Simmons) (Jordyne, Kendall, Katelyne and James Lewis III) along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. Reverend Walter Lee Kelley Jr. lived a life rooted in service, faith, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever celebrated.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Zion Church of God Holiness (211 Daniel Street Anderson, SC). The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service. The interment with military honors will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery. Public viewing Friday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
