Rev. S.T. Dennis, Sr. Obituary

Rev. S.T. Dennis, Sr. went to eternal glory on June 12, 2024 at his residence, 414 Valentine Street, Anderson, SC.  Rev. Dennis was born on December 16, 1928 in Starr S.C. to the late Barto and Eva Mae Dennis. During his teenage years, he met his first wife, Willie Mae McGowan. They married in 1949 and were husband and wife until her heavenly transition on January 5, 1994. During their union, they were blessed to have four beautiful children: S.T. Dennis, Jr., Carolyn, Charlotte, and Phyllis. In 1996, Rev. Dennis and Evangelist Edith Durham were married and fulfilled a loving marriage until his passing. From this union, he inherited an extended family of six children: Linda, Bobby, Victor, Iris, Frances, and Mitchell.

In his early twenties, Rev. Dennis accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and became a member of Fuller Temple F.B.H. Church. He received and accepted his call to ministry in the late 1950’s. For 55 years, Rev. Dennis served in a pastoral role in the FBH denomination at seven churches: Fuller Temple, Mother Zion, Macedonia, Mt. Zion, St. Peter, True Light, and White Rock. Over the course of his pastoral duties, he led and mentored thousands of members in the Way of the Lord. In addition to his role as pastor, he carried many titles in the FBH Church: father, husband, and Honorary Elder.

As a visionary leader, he loved the FBH and worked relentlessly to spread the Gospel. He always cherished the members’ kindness to his family. As time passed, he worked even harder evangelizing, assisting, and upholding the pastoral charge to carry out the Holy Command and to fulfill the desires of his Heavenly Father. He was known throughout the FBH Church as the “Still Water Preacher”.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Evangelist Edith Durham Dennis, children: S.T. Dennis, Jr. of Anderson, SC, Charlotte (Jimmy) Latimer of Belton, SC, Phyllis Dennis of Greenville, SC, three stepsons:, Bobby L. (Linda) Durham, Victor (Beverly) Young, and Barry M.
