Patrick Crosby Obituary

Our Condolences to the family of Mr. Patrick Crosby. 

Mr. Patrick Crosby was born on March 12, 1948 in Anderson, South Carolina to the late Mr. Roy Crosby and Mrs. Mary Anna Payton Crosby. He passed away on March 7, 2021 at Hospice of Savannah in Savannah, Georgia at the age of 72.

Patrick was a 1966 graduate of Westside High School in Anderson, SC . He was active in the sports programs at school. He received his first Athletic Letter in basketball during his sophomore year. Patrick also earned his second Athletic Letter for football his senior year. In 1968 Patrick entered the United States Army and retired in December 1989. He served in Viet Nam for one year with the 9th Infantry Division. In 1971 he was stationed in Germany. Other duty stations include Camp Hovey, Korea; Ft. Eustis, Virginia; Ft. Carson, Colorado; and Ft. Stewart, GA (1985) where he retired as Sergeant First Class (SFC) 7.

Patrick coached Men, Women and Youth basketball and softball for nearly 30 years. He took the Ft. Stewart, GA Men and Women Basketball teams to both State and Regional Championships. He truly enjoyed teaching and coaching Youth basketball and believed it was important to “start with the basics and fundamentals.”

Patrick’s first marriage was to Myrtle Crosby. To this union three children were born: Jeanette, Patrick and Maeyoung. On August 16, 2008 Patrick and Deborah Smith were married. To this union he gained three stepchildren.

Patrick was a family-oriented man.  He loved cooking and spending time with his family and friends.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings: Roy Crosby, Jr., Leonard Crosby, Brenda Jean Crosby, Mae Young Crosby, Catherine Scott, and Barbara A. Kelley.

Patrick was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop M.L. Jackson.

To cherish his memory, Patrick leaves his devoted wife, Deborah C. Crosby; three children: Jeanette (Joseph) Clinton of Atlanta, GA, Patrick L. Crosby of Atlanta, GA and Maeyoung (Joshua) Stone of Perry, GA; three stepchildren: Maria Holland of Atlanta, GA, Melissa (Joshua) Hicks of Hinesville, GA and Michael (Nevada) LeCounte of Hinesville, GA; his brother, Lee Frank (Joyce) Crosby of Baltimore, MD; his sister-in-law, Joan Crosby of Baltimore, MD; eleven grandchildren: Derrick Isabell, Marquis Crosby, Gregory Knowles, Hannah Stone, Tyler Stone, Dyasia Brown, Jayvon LeCounte, Jamari Stone, Aliyah Harvey, Ayana Stone, and Amari Hicks; Godchildren: Tristian (Christian) Williams, Kesha Ross Hall, Tamera Ross Day, and Walter (Rennie) Ross, Jr.; great-grandchild: Kamryn Jayda Isabell; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a whole host of family and friends.
