Pastor Lewis C. Mitchell, Jr., passed away peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on May 16, 1949 to the late L.C. Mitchell and the late Vera Wilson Mitchell.
Pastor Lewis Mitchell joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at a young age. During his high school years, he was in the band at Westside High School. Later in life he joined the Heaven Bound Singers and became the assistant Pastor of Christian Outreach Ministries Baptist Church in Greenville, SC.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Debbie Martin Mitchell of the home; four sons, Corey Johnson, Moses Rogers of Greenville, SC, Jimmy Rogers of Walhalla, SC and Andre Mitchell of the home; four daughters, Jackie (John) Bates of Newberry, SC, Kelli (Brailyn) Rogers-Young of Greenville, SC, Chassidy Bryant of Townville, SC, Aaliyha (Trenton) Mitchell-Marshall of Greenville, SC; twenty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Azalee White of Washington, DC; two brothers-in-law, Curtis Martin of Piedmont, SC and David (Felicia) Martin of Simpsonville, SC; three god sisters, Barbara (John) Kay, Alfreda (Robert) Bowman, Beverly Gantt all of Anderson, SC; two god-daughters, Cangunica Evans of Greenville, SC, Regina (Matt) Bailey of Piedmont, SC; two pride and joys, Quinton Robinson of Elgin, SC and Ashante Hill of Greenville, SC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Mitchell; one sister, Patti Earl; and one niece, Johnsie Katrina "Trina" Mitchell Terry.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held on Friday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
