A Time To Be Born
Mattie Louise Lewis (Jean) was born in Anderson, SC, on March 6, 1944, to the late Dayton and Martha Gambrell Williams. Her love for God was as strong as she was and remained an important part of her life.
A Time To Transition
Mattie received her education at Riverside School, graduating with the Class of 1962. She worked for Defore Milliken for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a faithful member and missionary at Mt. Able Baptist Church, where she served as a chaplain and as a dedicated member of the usher ministry until her health began to decline. She was also a member of the Heaven Jubilees, Mt. Able Baptist Church Gospel Choir, and Jesus Gifted Ministries. Mattie was an exceptional cook. We cannot forget the cakes she baked. She was especially known for her delicious red velvet cakes.
