Mary Sue (Watson) Jones

Mrs. Mary Sue Jones, age 94, of 1022 Johns Avenue, Belton, SC departed this life on January 6, 2023 at Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.

Mary was born in Anderson County on December 24, 1928.  She was married to Deacon James S. Jones for sixty-nine and a half years, before his passing in 2019.  She retired from Clark-Schwebel Fiberglass after more than 25 years of service.  She was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she was a former president of the Usher Board, secretary of the Missionary Society, a member of the Senior Choir, president of the Pulpit Aid, and pianist for 5th Sunday Service.  She was also a former member of the Community Workshop Choir.  Mary also attended Greater Love Bible Church for a short period of time before her health declined.

Mary leaves fond memories to her daughter, Diane Jones of the home; son, Walter D. Jones of Anderson, SC; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Narcissus Watson; one son, James E. Jones; one sister, Gladys Lee; six brothers, Clifton Watson, Andrew Watson, Elijah Watson, Elias Watson, Elliott Watson, and Alvin Watson; and one great-grandson, Brendan L. Jones.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.  Public viewing will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
