Mary Magdalene (Bradley) Harkness

Mrs. Mary Bradley Harkness was born on May 19, 1937 in Anderson, SC to Clifton and Mattie Bradley.  She was the 10th child of 15.  Mary entered into eternal rest at the age of 84 on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Hospice of the Upstate (Rainey Hospice House). 

Mary married John Calvin Harkness in 1954 and through this union two children were born: Sandra Marie in 1955 and John Calvin in 1957.  Mary was a devoted wife and loving mother.  In the early 70's, Mary became an Evangelist.  She lived most of her life as a homemaker and as a cook. 

Mary leaves to cherish her fond memories to her granddaughter, Adrian Adams; three sisters, Etrulie Bradley, Jennie Foster, and Judy McManus; two brothers, Andy and A.C. Bradley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Harkness, Sr.; her parents, Clifford and Mattie Leslie Bradley; one daughter, Sandra Marie Adams; one son, John Calvin "Pee Wee" Harkness, Jr.; six sisters, Mandy Belle Bradley, Gladys Hollingsworth, Mattie Harris, Lula Mae Sadler, Victorine Johnson, and Barbara Jean Bradley; and three brothers, James, Clifton, and John Bradley.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, December 24, 2021 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 26, 2021 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.

The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Adrian Adams, 301 True Temper Rd., Anderson, SC 29624.
