Mary W. (Morrison) Freeman

Mrs. Mary W. Morrison Freeman, age 93, 205 Leona Drive in Iva, SC, made her Heavenly transition on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at her home. She was born on November 8, 1930 in Elbert County, GA to the late Otis Lee and Willie Mae Curry Morrison.

Mary, who was affectionally also known as “Mae” or “Mae Willie,” was a wonderful person with a sweet spirit. She had a quiet personality, but always gave you a beautiful smile when you met her. She was employed with Hexcel Schwebel for over 30 years until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of Mountain View C.M.E. Church where she served faithfully on the missionary and stewardess boards. She was a member of the Prayer Band Bible Study Group where she held the office of President for many years. She loved cooking and feeding other people, no matter who it was. She also loved to shop. She was truly a staple in her community. She was married to the late Alonzo Freeman, Sr until his death in 1997. She leaves to cherish her children: Dianne Freeman Robinson (Tony Sr.), Lois Freeman Pinson, Alonzo Freeman, Jr., Jessie Freeman and Deandra Freeman-Paul (Tyrone); thirteen grandchildren: Sherri Hallums (Timothy), Angela Christine Pinson, Michelle Estrich, Brian Pinson, Lameka Marina (Derek), April Estrich, Jessica Freeman, Shareeta Freeman, Dametrius Freeman, Zackary Freeman, Antonetta Freeman, Marissa Putman and Daniel Groves. She also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Dora Freeman Wideman and Vessie Elaine Freeman Estrich; granddaughter, Tonya Freeman; great-great-grandson, Caydence Alexander; sisters, Margie Morrison Sadler, Lois Bell and Alma Grace Morrison Gray; brothers, Thomas A. Morrison, Horace Morrison and Arthur L. Morrison; daughter-in-law Tracilina “Traci” Overton Freeman and son-in-law, Lannis K. Pinson.

The family would like to extend our love and appreciation to her caregiving team over the years: Tonya Richardson Tillman, Interim Healthcare, Well Care at Home, LLC and Hospice of the Upstate. We would also like to thank Mountain View C.M.E. Church and Generostee Baptist Church for their love and support.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Generosteee Baptist Church.  The interment will follow at Mtn. View C.M.E. Church.  Public viewing Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
