Mary Frances Coleman Edwards, age 90, of 502 Seneca Street in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina was the widow of Samuel Edwards. She entered into eternal rest under hospice care at the home of her daughter, Valerie D. Hill on November 13, 2024.
Mary was born September 21, 1934 in Greenwood County. She was the daughter of the late Wylie Coleman and the late Celia Conner Coleman. At a young age, she joined Jacob Chapel Church and later joined Springfield Baptist Church. Mary attended Brewer High School in Greenwood, SC. After she married the late Samuel Edwards, they moved to Calhoun Falls. She worked in the textile industry at West Point Steven until she retired. Mary was also a member of the Women's Aid Society Lodge #86.
Mary was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Alice Jackson; one son, Curtis Edwards; two sisters, Lula Mae Childs and Izola Coleman Quarles; and three brothers, Willie Edward Coleman, Howard Coleman, and John Coleman.
She leaves to cherish one daughter, Valerie (Vince) Hill of Calhoun Falls; one son, Craig Edwards of Calhoun Falls, SC; three grandchildren reared in the home, Vanesica Desvignes-Ware, Meghanne Willis, and Vince Hill, Jr.; thirteen more grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; one godson, Larry (Martha) Edwards of Athens, GA; one goddaughter, Louise Chamber of Greenwood, SC; two sisters, Helen Ruth Lomax of Abbeville, SC and June (Bobby) Wardlaw of Hodges, SC; two brothers, Bob Coleman of Hodges, SC and George (Elizabeth) Coleman of Columbia, SC; two brothers-in-law, Robert Edwards of Calhoun Falls, SC and Ollie Edwards of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Springfield Baptist Church in Calhoun Falls, SC. The interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home (Calhoun Falls).
