Marvel Cheeks Obituary

Mr. Marvel Kenneth Cheeks, 68, of Anderson, SC (formerly of Detroit, MI), passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Geraldine E. Long Cheeks; two daughters, LaKeita Geter and Shardae Brown-Shaw; one son, Kamal Cheeks; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Marsha Gail Cheeks, Congresswoman Carolyn Kilpatrick, an Madelyn Hardgest; and a host of relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvell Cheeks, Jr. and Willie Mae Henry Cheeks and one brother, Raymond Henry Cheeks.

The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at noon in Marvel's hometown (Detroit Michigan) at the Fellowship Chapel, 7707 Outer Drive West, Detroit, MI 48235. Family hour will precede the service at 11am. Attendees are encouraged to wear African attire in honor of our African ancestors.
