Margaret Ann Mattress Lee

Today we are here to celebrate and give thanks for the life of Margaret Ann Mattress Lee.  She was born on January 17, 1962 to Roosevelt Sr. and Kizzy McClam Mattress.  Margaret departed her life at Hospice of the Upstate on July 30, 2022.

Margaret attended and graduated from McDuffie High School.  She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother and compassionate friend.  Margaret worked in management in food service for many years.  She was willing to help young people gain employment.  During football season, she loved to watch her favorite football team, the Pittsburg Steelers compete.  Watching Monday and Friday night wrestling was also on her list of favorite things to do.  She also loved to cook dinner for her family.

Margaret leaves to mourn two sons, Cedric (Shameka) Mattress and Scottie (Nicole) Mattress both of Anderson, SC; her daughter, Temika Lee of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Brinasia,  Marquarius, Malik, Cartel, Ezekiel, Kaitlyn, and Ja'Ceon all of Anderson, SC and Aeyane of Raeford, NC;  her mother, Kizzy McClam Mattress of Anderson, SC; three sisters, Mary Mattress and Cathy Mattress both of Anderson, SC and Betty Groves of Atlanta, GA; a special friend, Rodrick Smith of Anderson, SC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her father, Roosevelt Mattress, Sr.; her brother, Roosevelt Mattress, Jr. and her nephew, Nicholas Mattress.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
