Margaret Marie Hagood, age 91, of 334 Echo Circle, Anderson, SC passed on Saturday, July 12, 2025. She was born in the Pelzer area of South Carolina. She was the daughter of J.P. and Marie Harper Gambrell. In her early years she was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pelzer, SC. Later she became a member of New Holly Light Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess for many years.
Margaret married Deacon David Hagood, Sr. To this union, nine children were born. Margaret worked in the textile industry for over twenty-four years. After retirement she decided to go back to work for a short while at Hardees, BoJangles, and Skin's Hot Dogs. During this time, she received her G.E.D.
Margaret was a strong devoted Christian who loved her family and pastor dearly. Margaret was a mother, aunt and friend to many. She was a small lady in stature, but had a big heart and a beautiful soul. She was a person who you could confide in, a strong prayer warrior and a great counselor. She didn't mind saying what was needed to be said, when it was needed to be said (Amen Church!! Amen!).
Margaret leaves to cherish three sons and three daughters: Darryl Hagood (Belinda) of Anderson, South Carolina, Stanley (Ava) Hagood of Anchorage, Alaska, Roger Hagood of Columbia, SC, Sharon Lee, Cynthia Hagood and Ann Martin (James) all of Anderson, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grands and one great great grandson; and a host of relatives.
Margaret was the last leaf on the tree. She was the last living aunt on both sides of her family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, David Hagood Sr.; six sisters and one brother; three sons, Ricky, Jerome and David Hagood Jr.; and one granddaughter, Sierra.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025 at New Holly Light Missionary Baptist Church. The interment will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
