Lucille Geer Mattison

We are blessed and grateful for the life of Lucille Geer Mattison of 406 Scott Road, Anderson, South Carolina. Mrs. Mattison was born in Anderson County, South Carolina on March 22, 1926 to the late Rockefeller Williams and Samella Geer. She departed this life at her residence on April 18, 2023. Her family had just recently celebrated her 97th birthday with her.

Lucille was a faithful member of the Welfare Baptist Church of Belton, South Carolina. Prior to her declining health she actively served as a member of the senior choir and the Women’s Missionary Circle #2. She retired many years ago from the Anderson Memorial Hospital where worked in the hospital laundry department.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Reed Mattison; her maternal grandmother, Alice Geer (who reared her) and her only sibling, Equilla Hunter.

Left to cherish her memories, two daughters, Evelyn Orsena Mattison of the home and Birdie Mattison Sanford of Atlanta, Georgia; grandson, Gary Mattison Sanford (LaKrystle) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Leira Merie, Gary Jerimah and Shailyn Rose Sanford; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at Welfare Baptist Church Cemetery.  Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
