Louise Leverette Hill was born on November 21, 1923, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Jacob (Jake) and Rozella Leverette. Louise, along with her parents and siblings, later moved to South Carolina, where she found her forever home. She attended public school. Although she did not complete high school, Louise pursued her passion for cosmetology, earning a certificate from a school in Atlanta. Louise was an entrepreneur and built a successful salon business. She began in a rental booth and eventually opened her own salon. She excelled in her field and hosted several beauty events to ensure the highest standards for her colleagues and clients. Louise retired in 2006 after many years of dedicated service as a stylist in Anderson and the surrounding areas.

A devout child of God, Louise was a respected member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Anderson, South Carolina. She actively contributed to various ministries, including the usher board, choir, women's auxiliary, YWA, and as a missionary.

Known for her civic engagement, Louise served her community with a deep sense of responsibility. She was a voter poll worker, a Girl Scout leader, and a member of the VFW and the Southside Community Center. 

Though she did not have biological children, Louise embraced the spirit of motherhood, nurturing her nieces Rose, Lola, and Angela. She was also a mother figure to many in her community and a beloved grandmother to their children and friends.

A well-rounded individual, Louise enjoyed solving puzzles and traveled both nationally and internationally. Her adventures took her to the Holy Land, London, Canada, the Bahamas, and Hawaii. She inspired those around her with her encouraging spirit and was known for her love, elegance, poise, and strength. As the matriarch of the Murray family, she was deeply cherished for the affection she shared.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob (Jake) and Rozella Leverette; her brothers, Ollie Leverette, Willie T. (Helen) Leverette, and Clifford (Ruth) Leverette; her sister, Mary (George) Jones; as well as her nieces, Sharon Smith and Lola Barton; and her nephew, Gordon Leverette.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and love to her nieces, Sandra Reedus, Yvonne (Elvis) Eaglin, Janice Leverette Lane, Debra Leverette, Rosemary Dennis Brown, Angela Lockhart, and Karen Leverette; and her nephews, Tyrone Leverette, Darryl Leverette, and Phillip Barton. She is also mourned by a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and cousins.

Though weeping may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Rock Hill Baptist Church.  The interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.  Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
