Lonnie Hill, Jr.

Mr. Lonnie Hill, Jr. was born in Anderson, South Carolina on October 11, 1942.  He entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Callie and John Rainey Hospice.

After sharecropping for many years he was a carpenter by trade. First with S&W Builders and then with Elrod Construction until he retired at age 65. Lonnie was a long-time member of King David Baptist Church.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Shianicaus (Jamison) Simmons; his grandson, Jace Simmons; two sisters, Tiny Hill Mattison and Martha Hill Berry; one brother, James Hill; a loving companion, Viola Mattress; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou Carter Gantt Hill and Lonnie Stowers, Sr.; and seven siblings, Ruth Gantt Allen, Mary Gantt Spear, George Gantt, Canary Gantt Davis, Jones Gantt, Paul Hill and Ruben Hill.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024 at King David Baptist Church.  The interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Public viewing Sunday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family is at the home of his sister, Mrs. Martha Berry, 1010 Jones Drive, Anderson, SC 29626.
