Early Sunday morning, December 17, 2023, our Heavenly Father came to 3914 Bowen Drive in Hephzibah, GA and took the hand of Lola Dennis Barton from Labor to reward.
Lola was born May 24, 1950 in Anderson, SC to the late Ira Dennis Jr. and Mary Leverette Dennis Jones.
In 1968, she graduated from Westside High School in Anderson, SC. Lola played basketball and drove the school bus. Upon graduation, Lola enlisted in the United States Army, where she served 6 years, including 3 years in Landstuhl, Germany.
While in service, she met Phillip Barton of Brewton, AL. After their honorable discharge, they married in Anderson, SC. From this marriage, two sons were born. Their 51 years of marriage served as an example of true partnership and the power of love.
Lola was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family dearly. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Phillip; sons, Demario Jermaine and Damian Kariem both of Hephzibah, GA, Gerald A. Barton of Alabama; two sisters, Rosemary D. Brown and Angela H. Lockhart both of Anderson, SC; thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a blessing on the way; aunts, Louise Hill, Diane Dennis Martin and Lillian Dennis Heard all of Anderson, SC; uncles, Albert Dennis and Morris Dennis both of Anderson, SC and Lawrence Dennis of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Rock Hill Baptist Church in Anderson, SC.
