Mr. Lewis Edward Goosby, Sr. was born in Anderson County, South Carolina on March 3, 1950. He passed away on February 11, 2025 at Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.
Lewis joined the U.S. Army in 1969. After 3 years of service, he received an honorable discharge. After service, he worked in the construction industry for many years.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Dorothy Mae Hill Goosby; four children, Michael Goosby, Latonja Hill, Madeline Goosby, and Lewis Goosby, Jr.; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Georgette Adams, Sadie Johnson, Patricia Dumus, and Elizabeth Reynolds; mother-in-law, Pauline Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Goosby and Martha Lewis Goosby; two sisters, Lola Moss and Lillie Mattress; and two brothers, Joe Nathan Goosby and Matthew "Pete" Goosby.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2025 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment with Military Honors will be held at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Public viewing will be held Saturday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
