Leslie Howard McDowell, 72, was called home from labor to reward on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at St. Frances Downtown Hospital, Greenville, SC. He was born on March 15, 1951 in Pendleton, SC to the late Ronie Lee and Jessie Mae Rosemond McDowell.
Howard attended Mt. Spring Elementary school and was a 1969 graduate of Riverside High School in Pendleton, SC and attended Tri-County Technical College where he received certificates in welding and boiler schematics. He was a faithful member of Mt. Able Baptist Church, Pendleton, SC, until his health declined. He worked for American Enka, Clemson, SC and later at Westinghouse/Izola in Pendleton, SC until his retirement.
Howard leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife of 35 years, Linda “Lin” Baskin McDowell; daughter, Stephanie B. (Leon) Wiley; two grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Stowers, Donnie R. (James) Scott, and Ella Browar; brothers, Lonnie and O’Dell McDowell, nieces/daughters, Paradisa Jones, Shawana J. Groves, Latanya Jones, Mica J. (Leranzo) Bryant, Melissa (Earl, Sr) Love, Jessica Scott, and Nathania Browar; nephews/sons, Timothy (Gena) Stowers and LaVar Scott; other nieces and nephews, Britanni, Jasmine (Teymahl), Jamal, Talissa, Mauri, Earl, Jr., NyAngel, DeSean, Peyton, Parker, LaMarion, Cayson, Zobe, Kaeden, Kaliyah, Jaleah, Dre, and Keyani; in-laws, Brenda J. (Lonnie) Pressley, Doug (Betty) Baskin, Doris Baskin; a special friend for over 50 years, William Peppers; along with a host of cousins, and friends who will all miss him dearly.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Ronie and Jessie Mae Rosemond McDowell.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2023 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.
The family will be at their respective homes.
