Laura Mae (Caesar) Reid

Laura Mae Reid (Mama Reid), a truly devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 29, 2024 in Taylors, SC at the home of her beloved granddaughter.

She was born on Tuesday, July 30, 1929 in Basil, Louisiana to late Columbus and Elizabeth Ceasar. Laura also known to many as Mama Reid loved her job raising and caring for many children within the Anderson County, S.C. Community.

Laura was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church until her health declined. She truly enjoyed listening to gospel music daily.

Laura is survived by her dearest daughter, Barbara (John) Kay of Anderson, S.C.; two sons, James (Renee) Reid of Anderson, S.C. and Spencer (Katherine) Reid of Seneca, S.C.; and two siblings, Luna Jones and Agnes Woodard. Laura was extremely blessed as her legacy includes a host of grandchildren, Laurin (Marcus) McAlister (beloved granddaughter, whom she raised), Shaquille (Jasmine) Reid-Kay, Shamar'Ray Reid-Kay, Courtney (Jonathan) Jackson, Spencer Reid, Latorian Greenlee, Sherise (Terrell) Thompson, Crystal Reid, Roger Reid, Roshanda (Keith) Reid, Driq Hardy, Katelyn Reid, Jamille Reid, Calvin (Ashley)Reid Jr., Thomas Reid, Tyuia (Lonnie) Thompson,  Calvin Williams, Trey Reid, Olecia Reid, Aulmi Reid, Robert Alexander, Derek (Lady Kadijah) Johnson, and Kendrick Green. She was blessed with a host of great-grandchildren, Elijah, Brooklyn, Curtis, Khyree, Trinity, Londyn, Khyren, Malaysia, Kaidence, Jayceon, Khiry, Makenzie, Makeera, Makenyah, Nasir, Kearsten, Shyhem, Dasharie, Keyon, Keyshun, Keyandre, Egypt, Israel, Zoe, Brody, Roger III, Brookelyn, Breon, Epiphany (Willie), Breanna, CJ, Bishop, Leilani, MJ, Stella, Cori, Jakius, Zakai, Channing, Cortland, CJ (Hardy), Malachi, Caisyn, Mercedez, Beckham, Kehlani, Quadeer, and Dreck; great-great-grandchildren, Dio, Qua'Mir, Grayson, Harmoni, Marley, and Harlyn; and a host of relatives. 

She was preceded in death by her six sons, Henry, Thomas, Columbus, Paul, Roger, and Willis Reid; and her dear siblings, Eva, Paul, Hazel, Johnnie, Ruby Mae, Ruby Jean & Wilbert.

The funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church.  The interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.  Public viewing Friday 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will be at their respective homes.
