Mr. Keith Terence Harkness was born on June 24, 1967 in Anderson, SC to Isaiah and Margaret Harkness. He was a graduate of Westside High School and Texas Tech. After graduating from high school, Keith joined the United States Army and served from 1985 to 1997. During his service, Keith’s unit was deployed in the United States invasion of Panama, codenamed Operation Just Cause. While serving, he met his wife, Carole Harkness, in Ft. Ord, California. Throughout their relationship, the couple resided in Ft. Lewis, Washington and Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri; they married in August of 1991 at St. Paul First Baptist Church. He was an active member of St. Paul where he served as the audio/visual lead and Chairman of the Trustee Board. He was a longtime employee of AFCO and at the time of his passing, was an employee of EuWe Plastics as a Disposition Planner. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including grilling, fishing, hunting, and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene Mattress, Eria Mattress, Lula Mae Reynolds, and Isaiah Harkness Sr.; aunt, Dorothy Jane Harkness; and brother-in-law, Marion Jamison III.
He leaves behind to cherish his very fond memory his wife, Carole Harkness; children, Stephanie and Terence Harkness; parents, Isaiah and Margaret Harkness; sisters, Shannon Jamison and Pamela Harkness-Hall; nephews, Mark and Marion Jamison IV; father-in-law, Kelvin (Linda) Lumpkin; brothers-in-law, Andre (Vanessa) Ball and Terrance (Amber) Craion; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
If you had the honor of meeting Keith, you knew you were in the presence of a good and kind man. We have lost a truly beautiful soul. We are blessed and so very grateful to have been a part of the life of Keith Terence Harkness.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at St. Paul First Baptist Church in Anderson. The interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
