Katrina L. Mattison

On Saturday, May 4, 2024 Katrina LaChelle Mattison was called home to be with the Lord in eternal peace. She was born on March 11, 1980 in Anderson, South Carolina to the late Curtis and Darrina Mattison.

Katrina graduated from Westside High School in 1998. She was an employee of AnMed Health. Katrina was employed with the Anderson County Disability Board for many years, where she enjoyed working with adults with disability.

Katrina loved the Lord and at an early age she frequently attended St. Paul First Baptist Church and King David Baptist Church. In adulthood, she joined Agape Outreach Church and attended other churches in the Anderson area. Katrina also loved traveling to Stone Mountain, Georgia to visit Vision Selah Church. She most recently started attending Powerhouse Christian Church. Katrina was a member of the Iva Chapter 275 Order of the Eastern Star.

Katrina fought the good fight since 2006 during her battle with renal failure (kidney failure). She was undergoing dialysis treatment at the Fresenius Kidney Care. Through this journey, she continued trusting the Lord. Katrina’s strength touched and gave hope to others. Although the burden was heavy at times, she continued to smile, and she gave God the glory. Her son, Khaliyl, was her heart. She lived her life as an example for him to never give up and to put trust in the Lord.  Katrina’s race is over, and she has gained her wings.

Katrina leaves behind to cherish her fond memories, her son, Khaliyl Mattison of the home; granddaughter, Harley Jade Mattison of Anderson, SC; sisters, Crystal Dawson of Anderson, SC, Felicia Parrish (David) and Davetta Mattison, Laronette Price all from Detroit, MI; brothers, Tyrone Mattison of Detroit, MI, and Ricky Putman (Lori) of Olive Branch, MS; aunts, Viola Brown, Fredda Smith, Evelyn Walston, Verlena Ditty and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special friend/sister Sommer Bowen and a special cousin/brother Franklin Brown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Darrina Mattison, grandparents, Robert Sr. and Ruth Lee Mattison, and Maglean Hammond; aunts, Quintella Lee (Booker T.), Arnetha Hood (Waymond), Johnnie Clinkscales (Julius), Rosezella Gillard (Warren), and Dorothy Hood (Rufus); uncles, Leonard Smith, Bobby Brown, Robert Mattison Jr. (Zenobia), James Mattison (Nelda), and Timothy Mattison (Patricia).

Due to the power outage at Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home, the Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Katrina L. Mattison will be held at Wilson Calvary Baptist Church, 1401 N. Murray Ave, Anderson, SC. The service time (3:00 p.m.) will remain the same.

Public viewing Wednesday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
