Katie Ruth (Scott) Webb

Mrs. Katie Ruth Scott Webb was born on 5 June 1940, to the late Noel and Lula Bell Jones Scott in Pendleton, SC. On 3 November 1963, she married the late Rev. Benjamin F. Webb, I. She departed this life on 8 June 2023.

She is preceded in death by siblings: William Norman Scott, Ida “Peggy” Scott, Philip Eugene Scott and Noel Scott, Jr. She is the eldest of nine children.

She leaves to continue celebrating her life, four children: Mildred J. Webb, Deborah L. Blackman (David), Pastor Katie! E. Webb, Benjamin F. Webb, II (LaToyia). Her grandchildren are: Brandon Webb, Travis V. Webb (Sarah), Shoma E. Smith (Jarrod), Donna J. Webb (Leonardo Scott), Rufus Scott “Tee” (Kim), Special Katie Patrick (Lamonte), Breanna R. Webb and ten great-grandchildren. Other Siblings include Dorothy Acker, Doris Lewis (Willie), Bertie Green, Clarence Scott (Teresa), a special aunt and friend Janie Ruth Hadden, sisters-in-love, Annie Mae Webb, Elynne Johnson, and Seamer Scott along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mom, Aunt Kate, Aunt Katie, Sister Webb, Mrs. Webb was an encourager and Woman of God who was straight forward, honest, funny and a “Cheerful Giver.” She will be remembered for “Keeping it Real” and whispering “something” in your ear that nobody knew but you and her… unless you told it.

She attended the Anderson Training School. She joined Bethel UMC after marrying the late Rev. Webb in 1963 and attended there until Rev. Webb and she was appointed to various Charges in the SC Conference of the United Methodist Church from 1984 – 2004. They moved back to Pendleton and she was an active member of Bethel UMC until a stroke on 10 August 2022, interrupted her participation. She worked faithfully and lovingly with the Craig Hunter Family from March 2007 until January 2022.

Mom, Mrs. Webb your presence is deeply appreciated and incredibly remembered by us and all who had the incredible experience of knowing and loving you. You said, “God’s Gift to us is life. How we live our lives is our gift to God…”. Thank you for sharing God’s Gift of You with us.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Pendleton United Methodist Church.  The interment will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery (Webb Cemetery).  The funeral service will be live-streamed from the Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home's Facebook page.
