Katherine Wright Turner was born on August 7, 1957 in Greenville, SC to Reuben Wright, Sr. and Oneida Scott Wright.
She grew up in Taylors, SC, the youngest of six children. She was educated in the Greenville County Public School System and graduated from Riverside High School. She then earned an Associate Degree in Sociology at Spartanburg Methodist College. She then furthered her education by earning a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Sociology at Limestone College.
Katherine had a long and successful career with the S.C. Department of Corrections, employed as a classification case worker. Katherine enjoyed success and recognition in a second career as a Resident Services Coordinator, serving commercial and residential properties. She was recognized as Coordinator of the Year for the Westminster Property Management Company. She also worked as a Property Manager for P.K. Management.
Upon retirement, she continued to serve others in the community through her church, Self Regional Hospital as a volunteer and a board member of Abbeville County Mental Health. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and active member of the church. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, interior decorating, and thrifting. She had a great sense of humor and was a carefree soul. Katherine was very outspoken and a strong advocate for helping those in need.
She was preceded in death by the late Rev. Reuben Wright, Sr. and Oneida Wright; brothers, James Scott, Reuben Wright, Jr., and Robert Lee Wright; sister, Lillie Mae Trice; and one grandson, Jayden Michael Lamboni.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Michael K. Turner; children, Dr. Chase S. Turner and Ms. Jade Turner; daughter-in-love, Dr. Ledia D. Turner; sister-in-love, Lisa P. Turner; granddaughters, Giselle A. Turner and Jordyn Ali Lamboni; her sister, Mary Alice Dawkins of Taylors, SC; sisters-in-love, Deborah Wright of Greer, SC and Modestine Scott of Simpsonville, SC; as well as a host of relatives, friends, and the Springfield Baptist Church Family in Level Land, SC.
Katherine's family and friends will celebrate her life at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the Little River Multicultural Complex in Hodges, SC. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m.
