Mrs. Judith (Judy) Brown, was born November 18th, 1942, in Anderson, South Carolina, to Gomalia and Gertrude Lee. She peacefully passed away on October 26th, 2025, at The Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.
Judith graduated from Westside High School in 1961. She began her journey within the library system starting out part-time, then she and Ms. Janie Berry were on the Anderson County Library “Bookmobile” visiting the neighborhoods all over Anderson County for several years. With her love and passion for books this journey spanned a total of 36 years. After retirement, this passion led her to serve at the Anderson County Library at the Westside Community Center and volunteering her time at Welfare Baptist Church library.
Judith joined New Harmony (Emmanuel) United Methodist Church at an early age. As an adult she served in several ministries including pianist and choir, Sunday school teacher, Lay Leader, a member of The Golden Ages, historian, and The United Methodist Women. As her health declined, Judith was unable to physically attend church but was always online to participate in bible study and Sunday service.
Judith is survived by her husband, James R. Brown, Sr. and to this union of 61 years they have four children; Debra Walker (Undrea), Alma Brown (Marcus), James Jr. and Jeremy Brown.
She leaves one sister, Cynthia Lee of Anderson. Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Emmanual United Methodist Church and the churches in the Anderson United Methodist Circuit were always close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
The family is at the home, 115 Leon Dr., Anderson, SC 29625 and at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Debra Walker, 121 Taylors Trail, Anderson, SC 29621.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church. The interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Public viewing Saturday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
