Mr. Joseph “Joe” Dean, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on September 24, 1947, and peacefully departed this life on April 11, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faith, and devotion to those he cherished most.
Joe was born to the late James and Emma Lou Dean. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Josephine Dean; his daughter, Charlene Dean; and his grandson, NeRon Dean-Clark.
He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Jeneretha Dean. Together, they built a strong foundation centered on family, faith, and commitment.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Sharlene (O’range) Dean-Green of Anderson, Ursula Dean of Summerville, Christopher Rice of Anderson, Antonio Rice of Anderson, and Jeneen A. Webb of Greenwood. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Eris Corbin, Bralyne Dean, Breon Bryson, Nyaffa Dean, Derrio Maxwell, Kameron Johnson, Katelyn Webb, and Zabrea Rice; as well as 14 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
He is also survived by his loving sister, Mary Mack of Williamston; his sisters-in-law, Dessie Tucker of Anderson and Nancy Rice of Asheville; his brother-in-law, George Rice of Asheville; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Joe received his education at Spearman High School and furthered his studies at Denmark Technical College. He was a hardworking and skilled individual who dedicated many years of service to Duke Power before retiring. Known for his many talents, he was also a gifted gardener, handyman, electrician, and mechanic—always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
A man of deep faith, Joseph was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church. There, he faithfully served as a Trustee and on the Men’s Ministry. His commitment to his church and community was a testament to his unwavering belief and servant’s heart.
Mr. Joseph “Joe” Dean will be remembered for his strength, wisdom, kindness, and the love he shared so freely. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Public Viewing
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home, 1212 South Main Street, Anderson, South Carolina 29624.
Homegoing Service
The Homegoing Service for Mr. Joseph Dean will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 400 Murphy Road, Belton, South Carolina.
Entombment
Entombment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens, 7784 Augusta Road, Piedmont, South Carolina 29673.
