John Butler, Jr.

Mr. John Butler, Jr. was born in Anderson, County on July 31, 1931 to John Butler, Sr. and Alberta Mattison Butler.  John peacefully departed this life on January 31, 2021 in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was raised by his grandparents, Jim & Marie Mattison and his uncle and aunt, Claude & Margaree Mattison.

John was an Army veteran and after his Army discharge, he was a truck driver for many years until his retirement in 1979.

He leaves to mourn, three sisters, Marthaella Davis, Mae Helen Tate, and Annie Mae Butler all of Anderson, SC; three daughters, Mary Pearson of Morganton, NC, Alwonder Walker of Anderson, SC, and Margaret Gregory of Cleveland, OH; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Rozelle Butler; parents; step-mother, Leola Dandy Butler; grandparents, and one sister, Mary Butler Harris.

Service will be held Thursday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. in Ohio.  Gaines Funeral Home in Maple Heights, OH in charge of arrangements.
