James "Poochie" Wallace Armstrong

We gather today to celebrate the life of James Wallace Armstrong, affectionately known to family and friends as "Poochie." He was born on April 21, 1959, in Clemson, South Carolina, to the late Sammy Armstrong and Marquerite Webb Armstrong. On June 8, 2026, he peacefully departed this earthly life to join his Heavenly Father.

Poochie was a loving brother, uncle, and friend whose warm spirit touched everyone he met. He graduated from Pendleton High School with the Class of 1979. Shortly thereafter, he began his career with Milliken/Pratt Reid and was later relocated to Mexico, where he worked for 15 years. After returning home, he continued his dedicated service in the textile industry for many years. Following his retirement from textiles, he worked part-time with Aramark at Clemson University.

Known as the life of the party, his sense of humor, and love for family and friends made him a joy to be around. He created countless memories that will be cherished forever by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his last surviving sibling, Jackie B. Armstrong of Seneca, South Carolina; his loving nieces and nephews, Michelle Ellis, Kimberely Lyons, Jerkia Benson, Cosha Benson, Tammy Matthews, Marquerite Chancellor, Shay Armstrong, Chris Keasler, Patrick Grant, Brandon Keasler, and Amillian "Tuda" Armstrong; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Melba Davis, Brenda Douglas, MarqueRita Chancellor, Louis Keasler, and Debra Rickmond; and two brothers, Sammy D. Armstrong and Carl A. Armstrong.

Though he is no longer with us in body, the love, laughter, and memories he shared will remain in our hearts forever. 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026 at King's Chapel A.M.E. Church.  Public viewing Sunday 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
