On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Jacqueline Benita “Penny” Morris, 55, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Penny was born May 4, 1967 to the late Annie Pearl Morris and Joe Morris in Anderson, South Carolina. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents Joe and Daisy Louise Witcher and J.P. and Claudine Morris.
Penny was a kind, loving person, full of humor and care for others. She had a heart of compassion and although in the most recent decades, her health required the need for total care, she always expressed thanks for what health professionals, caregivers, aides and family did to assist her. Her non-verbal communication skills were another way of expressing her thanks and appreciation. She maintained a positive attitude and showed uncommon strength even in the midst of very difficult and challenging conditions. Each health professional who came in contact with her would always talk about her spirit and what a JOY it was to interact with her.
Many, many years ago, Penny accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She found ways to minister from her bed by her smile, gratitude of a thankful heart and humility as she consistently represented the love of God to people each day. Most people who encountered her would share how special she was in contrast to what they would anticipate when looking the seemingly insurmountable battles she was fighting. By her courage and unwavering strength in God, she never allowed her condition to make her bitter but it made her better and a greater witness of God’s grace and mercy. Penny endured as a good soldier of Jesus Christ and won the final battle! 2 Timothy2:3.
Jacqueline is survived by her three children, Janiqua Morris, Jarvis Morris of Anderson, South Carolina and Jasmine Morris of Norfolk Virginia; two grandsons, Javon Smith and Kaylan Morris of Anderson, South Carolina; two siblings, Carolyn Morris and Anthony (Marie) Morris of Anderson, South Carolina; along with multi-generations of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family all of who hold special memories of Penny.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery (Townville, SC). Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
