Mr. JB Brown peacefully transitioned from earth to glory at his home at 113 Brown Street in Anderson, SC on December 29, 2024. JB was the oldest son of the late Frank Jr. and Ruby Christian Brown. He was the grandson of the late Frank Sr. and Clotell Scott Brown and Eddie and Hannah Walker Christian. JB was born on September 3, 1936 and was raised in the Oak Grove Community. He attended Oak Grove School and joined Bethel AME Church in Pendleton, South Carolina at an early age.
He was an auto mechanic by trade since the age of 16. He was united in Holy Matrimony to JoAnn Hicks. From this union, three daughters were born, Felicia Lucille, Ruby Novella and Janie Tammy Brown.
JB lived in Brooklyn, NY, and East Orange, New Jersey, for most of his adult life. He was well-known in the North and Southern communities for always being ready to assist anyone and for being very candid with his advice.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted companion, Chris Hart of the home; son, Michael Spencer of Newark, NJ; three God-given daughters reared in the home, Kendra and LeEtta Hart of Charlotte, NC, and Chiquita (Henri) Hodges of Kennesaw, Ga.; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and two God-given grandchildren; sisters, Annie Mae Webb, Evangelist Ruby N. Lee, and Patricia McKinney all of Pendleton, SC and Betty Faye (Jason) Hollis of Powder Springs, Ga; sister-in-law; Sylvene Brown of Pendleton, SC; four brothers, Joecphus (Diane) Brown of Greensboro, NC, Ralph Brown Jr. of Pendleton, SC, Minister Larry Brown of Anderson, SC, and Martimus Lee of Easley, SC. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three daughters, two sisters Viola C. Owens and Geraldine B. Jackson, one brother, Oscar Brown, and one great-grandson.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at St. Luke F.B.H. Church. The entombment will follow at Memory Gardens. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
