Inez Freeman Buddin

Inez Freeman Buddin was born in Anderson, SC on April 21, 1935 to Acie Freeman and Nellie Leverette. One of twelve siblings, she had a close family and was beloved in her community. Moving to New York City with her husband Rev John W Buddin, she worked as an underwriting clerk for Metropolitan Insurance for 20 years. While in NY, she became very involved with the United Methodist Church and NAACP. She moved back to Anderson in the early nineties to be closer to family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. John W. Buddin, brothers Rev. Dr.  Boyer Freeman and John Freeman, and sister Virginia Freeman Thompson.

She leaves behind her daughter Shirley Buddin (Russell MCCollin), son John L Buddin (Alesia Floyd), and siblings Acie Freeman Jr, Alonzo Freeman, Michael Freeman Young, Veronica Nesbit, Elizabeth Wilson, Sylvia Williams, Brenda Daniels, and Yvonne Saturday. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren Felicia Buddin (Sean O’Brien), Ashon McCollin, Corie Buddin, Kevin McCollin, Shan Lucas, and LJ Buddin and her six great-grandchildren, Vincent O’Brien, Kamyra Adrine, Chase Lewis, Brittani Pots, and Colin Gambrel.

A love of interior design and aesthetic beauty, she leaves behind a sense of style that can’t be matched. We will always be thankful for the time we had with her the example of what a modern woman of faith could accomplish. 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the home, 102 Lockwood Drive Anderson, SC, immediately after the funeral service until 5:00 p.m.  The interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023 at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
