Hellen Hunter of Iva, S.C. was born on July 30, 1945. She passed away on September 8, 2024 at her residence in Iva S.C.
She was a student at New Deal school in Iva, S.C. She was a faithful member and piano player at Crossroad CME church. In the past, she worked at various textile mills in Anderson County and later became self-employed as a domestic housekeeper. Hellen serviced several homes in Anderson County. She loved playing the piano, fishing, and talking on the phone with her family and close friends.
Hellen was a strong, phenomenal woman who will always be loved and cherished. The following family members are left behind to celebrate her life: sister, Leatrice Toney; son, Napoleon (Mary) Hunter; daughters, Tracy Hunter and Elizabeth Hunter; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Georgia B. Oglesby; father, Bill Jones; brothers, Clinton Oglesby, William O. Oglesby, and James A. Oglesby; son, Christopher U. Hunter; and two grandsons, Lorenzo S. Hunter, and Courvocia J. "C.J." Hunter.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Cross Road C.M.E. Church. The interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may sign the register book and express condolences on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
