Harriet Elaine Sims

Harriet Elaine Sims departed this life on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Condor Health.  She was born in Anderson, SC on July 9, 1947 to the late Thomas and Freddie Sims.

Harriet was a graduate of Westside High School Class of 1965 and later attended South Carolina State University.  Shortly after, she moved to New York where she was employed at the Federal Reserve Bank for over 15 years.  She later returned to Anderson, SC to care for her mother, where she developed her love for caring for others as a caregiver for the elderly.

One of Harriet's most prized roles in life was of an aunt and dog mom.  She took her responsibilities of an aunt very seriously.  She loved, nurtured, assisted, and raised her nieces and nephews as her own by stepping in at a moment's notice to help.  Harriet never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand and a listening ear.  Her light was contagious and her magnetic personality attracted people from near and far.

Harriet is survived by her sister, Ida Moss of Anderson, SC; sister-in-law, Barbara Sims; brother-in-law, John Williams both of Anderson, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Sims, Freddie Sims, and Wardell Sims, Sr.; seven sisters, Glenora Cowans, Laura Davis, Erlene Smith, Bobbie Jean Gibert, Tommie Mae Scott, Minnie Lou Brown, Eunice Williams; and other cherished loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The family is at the home of her sister, Ida Moss, 1308 Daniel Ave. Anderson, SC.
