Gregory "Clown Man" Williford was born February 13, 1956 to Byrdnell Williford Wright & Winford Walker in Detroit, Michigan. At an early age he moved to South Carolina. He was reared in the home of his grandmother, Mary Francis Curry.
Gregory was a member of Adoration and Praise Bible Church in Mauldin, SC. He retired in 2018 from Rexam after many years of service. Gregory loved to go fishing with his uncle Donnie, go hunting, and watch western movies.
He will be dearly missed by his dedicated partner of 35 years, Betty Harkness; his children, Gregory Williford, Greta Williford, Edgar Harkness, Zachary Harkness, LaRicky Harkness, and Buffie Vandiver (Kevin); seven sisters, Deborah Taylor, Rosalind Williams (Cornelius), Robin Wright, Charlene Wright, Felirleen Branch (Rev. Tracy Branch), Cynthia Sheppy (Collin), Richard Dean Daniels; three brothers, James Wright (Michelle), Robert Wright, and Felix Wright Jr. (Lisa); 22 grandkids and 4 great-grandkids; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byrdnell Wright and Winford Walker; stepfather, Ferley Wright; one daughter, Shannon Williams; sister, Oletha Williford; grandmother, Mary Francis Curry; and special uncle, Larry Curry.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. Public viewing 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
