George Arthur Harrison, 82, passed away on April 22, 2026. He was born in Anderson, South Carolina, to the late Thompson and Annie Hamilton Harrison. Known to many as “Arthur,” he was a dedicated auto mechanic working for the family owned business at Harrison Brothers Garage, whom took pride in his work and the relationships he built over the years. He was known for his warm spirit and vibrant personality, often described as the life of any gathering. He especially cherished family reunions, where his presence brought joy and laughter to those around him.
George had a deep connection with his community and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His generosity, kindness, and willingness to serve others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A devoted Christian, George was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee for many years. His strong faith was a guiding force in his life. He was also a proud member of VFW 6089 and the O.C. Civic Club.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Helen Ruth (Jimmie Lee, Jr.) McMillan of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, TeCola (Eugene, IV) Callabrass and Christopher Townsend; great-grandchildren, Genesis Jones, Giorgina Callabrass, and Eugene Callabrass, V; along with a host of other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Johnson Harrison; his parents, Thompson and Annie Hamilton Harrison; his sister, Thelma Pearl Harrison; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Elijah (Shirley) Harrison and Earl (Roberta) Harrison.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
