Frank Mattress

Mr. Frank “Deet” Mattress was born on May 3, 1945 to L.T. and Clarina Harrison Mattress. He entered rest on Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.

Frank was a hard worker. He was a construction worker for many years with Pickens Construction Company. He joined Mt. Moriah at an early age.

He leaves to cherish his wife, Mary Johnson and her children; one daughter, Alison Hall; two sons, Frankie Teasley and Van Lee (Teresa) Mattress; two step-children, Tammy Knox and Rickey Hall; a host of grandchildren; four sisters, Ruby Mattress, Viola Mattress, Frances “Reba” (Flenzie) Scott, and Ernestine “Tina” Mattress; one brother, Harrison (Peggy) Mattress; three cousins reared in the home as siblings, Larry Harrison, Patsy Harrison, and Linda Gantt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.T. and Clarina Mattress; and four siblings, Shirley Estrich, Margaret Gantt, Clarence Mattress, and Willie C. Mattress.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
