Florida Mae (Jones) Aiken

Florida Mae Jones Aiken sadly passed away on August 17, 2024, at the age of 87. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.

She was born to Floyd Jones and Lurene Smith Jones on September 9, 1936. After Florida graduated from Riverside High School, she went on to study Business Administration at Friendship College.  She was a member of Mtn. Spring Baptist Church and a cherished member of the community in Anderson, SC, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.

Florida was married to her soulmate Broadus Aiken Jr. who preceded her in death in 1996. Together they raised two remarkable children Cassandra “Pam” and Darrell who were her pride and joy, as well as her stepdaughter Lorretta Garrison.

Florida retired from Bosch as a Ceramics Lab Specialist in Anderson, SC. As a passionate dog lover, Florida also considered Napoleon “Nat”, Raven and Isis members of her family. Like her children, her pets were priority, showered with love and affection.

Florida’s life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives she touched, and the love she shared. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will bloom eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind.  She will be dearly missed by her children, Cassandra “Pam”, Darrell and his fiancé, Tonya Lyons, stepdaughter, Loretta, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who felt her warmth and generosity. 

She was predeceased by two brothers, Louis Jones and Joe Jones; and a special niece, Melody Jones.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Mtn. Spring Baptist Church.  The interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.  A viewing will be held one hour before the funeral service.
