Mrs. Evelyn Artina Martin, 82, of Anderson, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at NHC Healthcare – Anderson, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 20, 1943, in Anderson, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Leroy L. Anderson and Frances K. Anderson.
Evelyn was a proud graduate of Westside High School. Following her graduation, she continued her education in Health Studies, which laid the foundation for her remarkable 42-year career with AnMed Health. Throughout her years of service, she was known for her compassion, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to caring for others. Her work touched the lives of countless patients, families, and colleagues, leaving a lasting legacy of excellence and kindness.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Evelyn was a devoted member of Wilson Calvary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board and in the Missionary Ministry. Her life was a reflection of Christ’s love through service, humility, kindness, and generosity toward all.
Above all, Evelyn cherished her family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Veronica Rice (Charles), Evelyn A. Martin, Alvin N. Martin (Joyce), Sandra Geer (James), Irvin E.. Martin (Angie); and nephew Charles McDowell (Shirley). Grandchildren: Crystal Noble (Michael), Kisha Hatten (Antonio), Chanta Ziegler (D’Mont), Keenen Geer (Courtney), Aliyah Geer (Jalandez Tate), Davarus Overton. Great-grandchildren: Taylor and MJ Noble, Nigeria Carvallo (Jose), Knowledge, Serenity, Avia and Kanajhi Hatten, Messiah and Zaden Tate, Tristan and Alani Ziegler, Diaja, Lelanie and Leonynx Porter. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and her beloved church family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin N. Martin Jr.; her sister, Shirley Anderson; her granddaughter, Shameka Fant and Maria Rice; and her great-grandchildren, Keshaun Hatten and Avianna Hatten.
Evelyn will be remembered for her quiet strength, compassionate heart, and unwavering faith. She had a gentle spirit that made others feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her legacy of kindness, perseverance, and unconditional love will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her life was a testimony of faith, service, and love. “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026 at Wilson Calvary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service. The interment will follow at Westveiw Cemetery. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
